Cable trunking usded inTRAI

TRAI was set up in 1997 by the Government of India to act as an independent regulator of the business of telecommunications. It consists of a chairperson and two cable trunking  full-time and two part-time members.
TRAI regulates telecommunication services, trunking adjudicates disputes, disposes appeals and protects the interests of service providers and consumers, to promote and ensure telecom’s orderly growth. Its mission is to create and nurture conditions to encourage the growth of telecommunications and form a transparent and fair-policy environment, encouraging competition.

TRAI issues relevant directives, regulations and orders plastic channels that deal with subjects such as service quality and tariffs. It ensures successful interconnection and technical compatibility between service providers and suggests conditions and terms on which licenses would be provided. It also suggests license revocation when there is non-compliance with these.

TRAI may also inspect the equipment used in the networks, recommend equipment for service providers to use, monitor service quality and conduct periodic surveys of the services being provided. It also advises the Central Government on telecom-related matters.
